Crystal River's Premier Full-Day Fishing Charter

Hey there, angler! Ready to hit the waters of Crystal River for a day of non-stop fishing action? Fish Hunter Tours has got you covered with our full-day private charter that'll have you reeling in everything from spotted seatrout to monster grouper. We're talking eight solid hours on the water, targeting the hottest spots and using tried-and-true techniques to put you on the fish. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your feet wet, our experienced guides will make sure you have a blast and learn a thing or two along the way.

What's the Deal?

Picture this: You and a buddy, out on the crystal-clear waters of Florida's Nature Coast, with nothing but blue skies above and fish-filled waters below. Our full-day charter gives you plenty of time to explore different fishing grounds, try various techniques, and really dial in on what's biting. We'll start early to catch that morning bite, then keep at it all day long. You'll be using top-notch gear, and our captain will be right there to offer tips, tell fish tales, and make sure you're having the time of your life. No need to worry about food – just bring your own snacks and drinks, and we'll take care of the rest.

Fishing Know-How

On this trip, we'll be mixing it up with different fishing methods to target a variety of species. We might start off sight-fishing for redfish in the shallows, using light tackle and artificial lures to entice those tailing reds. Then, we could switch gears and drop some live bait near structure for snook or sheepshead. If the tide's right, we might even head to some deeper spots to jig for grouper or troll for cobia. The beauty of a full day is that we can adapt to what's working best. You'll get hands-on experience with techniques like popping corks for trout, flipping jigs under docks for snapper, and maybe even throwing a fly if that's your thing. Our captain will show you the ropes, from rigging to casting to fighting fish like a pro.

What Folks Are Saying

"Bryan is such an awesome and down to earth guide! We have used him several times now and he always manages to make our day amazing and is always able to put us on the fish! He is also great with kids and he even incorporated some math into our fishing trip during the summer with our 9 year old!" - Kristen

"Had a great experience on a half day fishing charter. Bryan knows all the spots for each fish in season and all the rules on what you can keep. We caught some good keepers and even accidentally brought in a shark. He brought the bait, baited hooks, helped us learn to cast, and we caught some giant fish. Overall great day. Highly recommend" - Lucas

"This was our first saltwater experience and Bryan was fantastic! We are lifelong freshwater fishers and what a difference. Bryan was great at teaching us how to stop setting the hook like we do with freshwater bass. We finally got it....well mostly and caught plenty of fish. Bryan was great and professional. We all laughed at our setting the hook and slapping each other while doing it. This was a paid trip but it was more like being out with a lifelong friend just having a great time on the water. Can't wait to do it again with Bryan even though we have our own boat." - Ryan

Fish You'll Be Chasing

Snook: These hard-fighting linesiders are a favorite among Crystal River anglers. Snook love to hang around mangroves, docks, and other structure, making them a blast to target. They're known for their explosive strikes and acrobatic jumps. The best time to chase snook is during the warmer months, from spring through fall. Landing a big snook is like winning the lottery – it'll get your heart racing and leave you with a story to tell for years.

Tarpon: Known as the "Silver King," tarpon are the ultimate game fish in these waters. These prehistoric beasts can grow over 100 pounds and put up a fight that'll test your arms and your patience. Watching a tarpon roll on the surface is a sight you won't forget. We typically target them from late spring through summer when they migrate through our area. Hooking a tarpon is one thing, but landing one? That's an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Sheepshead: Don't let their funny looks fool you – these striped convicts are smart and tasty. Sheepshead are masters at stealing bait, but when you hook one, you're in for a treat. They hang around structure like docks and rock piles, and they're most active in the cooler months. Sheepshead are excellent table fare, so if you're looking to take home dinner, these are a top pick.

Redfish: Also known as red drum, these copper-colored beauties are a staple of inshore fishing. Redfish love to cruise the flats and can often be spotted by their tell-tale tailing behavior. They put up a great fight on light tackle and are active year-round in Crystal River. Sight-fishing for reds in clear water is an adrenaline-pumping experience that'll have you hooked for life.

Cobia: These curious fish are like the puppies of the sea – they'll often follow your boat just to check things out. Cobia are strong fighters that can grow to impressive sizes. We usually target them in the warmer months when they migrate through our waters. Cobia are known for their long runs and stubborn fights, making them a prized catch for any angler.

Ready to Wet a Line?

Alright, let's cut to the chase – this full-day trip with Fish Hunter Tours is the real deal. You're getting a private charter, expert guidance, and a full eight hours to explore some of the best fishing spots Crystal River has to offer. Whether you're after a trophy catch, a cooler full of fillets, or just a day of laughs and memories on the water, we've got you covered. Don't let another season slip by without experiencing the thrill of Crystal River fishing. Give us a call, book your trip, and get ready for a day you'll be talking about long after you're back on dry land. The fish are waiting – are you ready to catch 'em?

Trout Triumph

quotes

This was my second time going out with Bryan in Crystal river and I was not disappointed!! He’s extremely knowledgeable of both the area, fishing conditions for the time of the year, what to catch and how to catch it! I caught multiple trouts including a 24” monster! Also first time ever catching and holding a puffer fish. Not only was it an amazing fishing experience, but also a great learning experience as well. Captain Bryan genuinely enjoys teaching his clients fishing skills they can’t take home with them! I recommend this charter to both natives and tourists who want to have a blast on the water and catch monster fish!

We had an amazing day on the water with Captain Bryan! He had us on fish nonstop all day and was great about teaching all of us (including an 8 year old who outfished everybody) the tips and techniques to hooking up all sorts of fish. He was super friendly and knowledgeable, really can't say enough good things about the experience. I've been on other charter boats before with mixed results but this trip was awesome start to finish! Thank you again Captain Bryan!

Learn more about the species

Cobia

Cobia are those odd-looking brown fish that often get mistaken for sharks. They typically run 20-40 pounds but can top 100. We find 'em around buoys, wrecks, and even following big rays. Spring and fall are prime as they migrate through. Cobia are curious fish, so have a pitch bait ready. They fight like freight trains and taste amazing. Medium-heavy tackle with 30-50 lb line works well. My top cobia tip? When you spot one, get that bait in front of it fast. They're not shy, but they don't stick around long either. A well-placed eel or jig can trigger an immediate strike.

Cobia

Redfish

Redfish are one of our most popular targets - for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers average 5-10 pounds but can top 40. You'll find 'em year-round in shallow flats, around oyster bars, and tailing in marshes. Fall is prime as they school up. Reds put up a stubborn fight and taste great on the grill. Light tackle in the shallows or medium gear for bigger fish. I love sight-fishing for tailing reds - nothing beats that excitement. My best redfish tip? Look for those nervous bait schools. Big reds will often be nearby, waiting to ambush an easy meal. Cast past the school and work your lure through it.

Redfish

Sheepshead

Sheepshead are those weird-looking fish with human-like teeth. Most run 2-4 pounds but can hit 10+. You'll find 'em around docks, pilings, and rocky structure year-round. They're notorious bait stealers, so bring plenty of fiddler crabs or shrimp. Winter is prime time as they school up to spawn. Sheepshead put up a decent fight and taste great, but they're tricky to clean with all those rib bones. Light tackle works best - I like a 7' medium rod with 10-15 lb test. My top sheepshead tip? Use a small, sharp hook and set it quick. Their bite is super subtle, so you gotta stay focused.

Sheepshead

Snook

Snook are sneaky fighters that'll test your skills. These silver-sided beauties typically run 20-30 inches and love to hang around mangroves, docks, and oyster bars. We find 'em year-round, but spring and fall are prime. They're ambush predators, so work your lures and live bait right up against structure. Snook put up an acrobatic fight and taste great, but watch those razor-sharp gill plates when handling them. For best results, use a medium-heavy rod with 20-30 lb line. My top tip? Fish the outgoing tide for actively feeding snook - they'll stack up waiting to ambush bait getting pulled out of the mangroves. Just be ready for that first explosive strike!

Snook

Tarpon

Tarpon are the silver kings of saltwater. These prehistoric beasts can top 100 pounds and put on aerial shows like no other. We typically find 'em in 3-15 feet of water around bridges, channels, and flats. Spring and early summer are prime as they migrate through. Tarpon fishing is all about the thrill of the chase and battle - they're catch-and-release only. Bring heavy tackle and plenty of stamina. These fish will test your arms and your patience. My best advice? Let 'em run on that first big jump, then bow to the king. It's all about managing those epic first few minutes to tire them out.
